Too Cool – Curated Cool

Curated Cool is an amazing online store and magazine that was developed by Melinda Fleming. Melinda developed the site as a way to share her love and knowledge of all products and places that are unique and fabulous. Only the best quality products are stocked and what I love about this online shop is that Melinda truly believes in being ‘a collector rather than a consumer’. A strong emphasis is placed on design and artistry, and products are chosen because of this. Melinda believes in quality, not quantity and so do I. Also check out the site for its great blog and amazing travel section.

La Cerise Sur Le Gateau (meaning the cherry on the cake) is a company created by designer Anne Hubert and produces beautiful home textiles and bedlinen. She takes the traditional and gives it a quirky twist to make a range of fantastic products that really stand out from the crowd. All made in Europe, she uses beautiful, quality fabrics and prints are created using silk screen methods and water based inks. Perfect for the young and old, these textiles are absolutely beautiful and add a stylish element to any interior.

MELBOURNE VIBES –
PANAMA DINING ROOM AND BAR

I spent Saturday night at Panama dining room and bar.
With an amazing restaurant menu, bar menu and a very extensive and interesting drinks menu, it is the perfect place to be any night of the week.
They are now doing MOTHER SHUCKER OYSTER HOUR with amazing complimenting drinks! SLURP. I ordered the very tasty steamed wild Barramundi fillet stuffed with Morton Bay bug and served with saffron gnocchi, fennel cream, cherry tomatoes and pistachio oil which was to die for. Do not even ask about the dessert I ate! I was in a massive love of food coma.
Beautiful food, very good looking and trendy staff and some fine beats what more could you ask for?! Not to mention the most important part (to me anyway) the interior.
The whole restaurant/bar/late night hang really works well for Panama.
Dining tables, comfy chairs and a pool table in the middle of the room help set the vibe. Great floral arrangements and plants placed through out the venue as well as amazing zig zag and gold wall papers complemented by the amazing arc windows.

Check it out!!

Indoor Plants

I am a fan of indoor plants. I don’t know when I started loving them, but I know at one stage I defiantly did not see them in the same light as I do now. Indoor plants make an excellent addition to any interior, there is always a spot that could do with a little greenery. Not only are they a relatively inexpensive way to decorate they are also good for your health. Plants have been proven to purify the air and create a better environment for you and your family. Different plants are believed to remove different toxins in the air. There are many beautiful pots out there and hanging plants look wonderful. Macrame is back in fashion and there are some gorgeous plant hangers out in bright bold colours, or like I did, try your own hand at a bit of macrame. So if you have a corner that looks like it needs ‘something’ add a beautiful bamboo palm or mother- in-law’s tongue and pop a maiden hair fern or aloe vera plant on the kitchen bench or table.

Beautiful Lighting

I absolutely love these beaded lights, I can imagine one each side of my bed or a cluster above the dinning room table!

These beautiful lights are one of the products made by Sydney based company Marz Design. The design company was established in 2010 by the talented designer, Coco Reynolds. Marz Design creates beautiful and functional pieces with a unique sense of style that will stand the test of time.

McClelland Sculpture Park

Having moved to Melbourne three years ago, I still consider myself a newcomer and love discovering what beautiful Melbourne and it’s surrounds have to offer. Last year I visited the McClelland Sculpture Park in Langwarrin on the Mornington Peninsula. There are three indoor gallery areas that house temporary exhibitions and an outdoor sculpture park set in 40 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens and bush. The sculpture park showcases over 70 works by some amazing Australian sculptors. It is such an interesting and beautiful park to visit that all ages can appreciate and enjoy.

kiitos – Living by Design

When searching for a career, people always offer the advise to find what you love to do or are passionate about and turn it into a job. Maria Malakellis, founder and owner of Kiitos in Barwon Heads has certainly made a success of her passion for beautiful design and all things marimekko. Maria was unemployed and at a loss of what to do when she realized the potential of an unused and unrenovated section of an old service station. One month later the bare shell was transformed into a beautiful and inspiring shop with a lovely, lively and passionate Maria at the counter. Maria stocks a fabulous selection of products that she would be proud to have in her own home. Products must have function, design merit,  be made ethically and to last and of course be beautiful. It is a wonderful shop that I just didn’t want to leave and look forward to visiting again to see what fantastic new products she has in store for us!

MISTER MOSS

What a clever name and a clever idea.  Mister Moss is a Melbourne based company that makes a quirky alternative to a traditional hanging plant. They are hand made balls of moss that house a variety of different plants such as herbs and succulents. Not only are they a hanging plant, or sitting if you like, I think they are a work of art. SQ

Tsktsk

I discovered Tiel Seivl-Keevers browsing the internet and being led from one blog to another. I occasionally find great blogs and great artists this way. I just loved her work and I actually purchased a numbered print straight away. Tiel is a painter, illustrator and designer and she works with paper, wood and canvas. You can see from her work that she is greatly inspired by nature and pattern. She is clearly a very talented lady. SQ
